Austin Duck Derby

4th Annual Austin Duck Derby

Saturday, August 5, 2017
Lady Bird Lake at the Ann Richards Bridge

At 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2017, hundreds of runners, tourists, mid-morning walkers and children of all ages will watch 15,000 eco-friendly rubber ducks launch into Lady Bird Lake from the Ann Richards Bridge on Congress Avenue. Aided by river currents and water sprays from the Austin Fire Department, the ducks will race to the finish line. Duck “owners” will cheer from the bridge in support of their “adopted” duck, eager for their duck to be the first to cross the finish line. Winners will receive exciting prizes, like a brand new car, airline tickets, brewery tours, and movie tickets. Family-friendly activities including face painting, music, food and more will take place on the Austin American Statesman’s parking lot during the duck race.

Ducks will be available for adoption for $5.00 each at austinduckderby.com beginning in May 2017.
