Ways to Help
Our priority is, and always will be, the safety and education of the youth we serve. During this time of school and Club closure, more than our duty, it is our privilege to provide critical assistance to our members that need it most.
Help us match a $500,000 challenge!
We are incredibly fortunate to announce that the Austin-based philanthropists Brian and Adria Sheth, founders of The Sheth Sangreal Foundation, have pledged dollar-for-dollar matching of funds up to $500,000 for Club on the Go. That means every dollar you donate goes twice as far in helping us provide youth and families with meals and vital resources.
“Seeing the Boys and Girls Club programs continue to empower so many young people to thrive in their communities reinforces our responsibility to make sure that they are able to continue their critical mission, especially during these difficult times.”
-Brian Sheth, The Sheth Sangreal Foundation
Now more than ever, our Club kids need our support.
Last year, we served over 16,000 youth in Travis and Bastrop counties, many of whom depended on school and Club meals and snacks as their primary source of daily nutrition. We understand that each day that our Club is closed, is a day of uncertainty for many of our Club Kids and their families. In an effort to provide solutions during this time, from now until our Clubs reopen every Thursday, BGCAA will be providing Club on the Go© kits at eight different pick-up locations.
What is Club on the Go?
Club on the Go© is a weekly pickup program created to keep our Club kids engaged and parents informed. Each bag includes a weeks’ worth of themed academic activities, meals and snacks based on USDA nutritional guidelines, DYI projects, and supplies, resources for parents and more. Club on the Go is designed by our Program Directors and BGCAA staff to align with core program areas and adapted for easy use at home.
This week, we provided 1,700 kits to our youth and expect to distribute up to 5,000 Club on the Go kits in the weeks to follow. Putting together these kits is a monumental unbudgeted project for our organization. However, we are certain that with your support, we will be able to continue this service as long as it is needed.
We are asking our community and donors to accept this challenge and support those that are not making headlines, the kids at home who need a helping hand during this challenging situation. This dollar-for-dollar match of $500,000 will support our Club Kids and families at this critical time. If you would like to donate any items to be included in the kit such as individual hand sanitizer, crayons, coloring books or markers for our Club Kids, please contact our Resource Development Department at 512-444-7199 ext. 140.
