We encourage and support members to develop the strong character and leadership skills that will empower them to make a difference in their communities. We do this by providing mentorship, opportunities for community service, and by recognizing and celebrating excellence.

Key Programs

Torch Club + Keystone Club

In these Clubs within the Club, members identify issues in their community that are important to them and work in groups to develop and implement solutions. As part of this process, they elect officers, work with budgets, and conduct activities in four areas: Service to Club and Community, Education, Health & Fitness, and Social Recreation.

Member of the Month

Designed for elementary-aged youth, this program recognizes and celebrates members who demonstrate good character and leadership qualities.

Youth of the Year + Junior Youth of the Year

Youth of the Year (YOY) is Boys & Girls Clubs’ premier leadership program—an opportunity for our members to shine, grow, and lead. Through YOY, Club youth develop critical skills in self-awareness, communication, and advocacy, preparing them to thrive in school, career, and life. The program honors remarkable young leaders who embody character, service, and resilience—our brightest role models.

Winners earn scholarships, recognition, and the chance to compete at the state, regional, and national levels—amplifying their voices and showcasing the incredible potential of Club kids everywhere.

Junior Youth of the Year (JYOY) builds this pathway for members ages 10–13, nurturing confidence, public speaking, and leadership at an early age. By starting young, JYOY prepares tomorrow’s Youth of the Year candidates and empowers them to lead in their Clubs, schools, and communities.

Together, YOY and JYOY showcase the power of Boys & Girls Clubs to inspire, prepare, and elevate young people—helping them step boldly into their futures as leaders and changemakers.
