Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area is grateful to our partners at Charles Schwab for their continued investment in Great Futures for Club youth. Last week, more than 60 Charles Schwab interns visited our Home Club to volunteer their time and talents—reaching over 100 Club members through an engaging, hands-on financial literacy experience.

The volunteer-led event, known as the Reality Store, gave youth the opportunity to step into real-world scenarios and make everyday financial decisions. From choosing careers and managing budgets to navigating expenses like housing, transportation, and groceries, participants learned firsthand how financial choices can shape their future.

By simulating real-life spending decisions in a supportive environment, the Reality Store helps young people build critical money-management skills, confidence, and awareness—tools that will serve them well beyond the Club. Events like this align with BGCAA’s commitment to preparing youth for life and workforce readiness while connecting them with mentors who model success and responsibility.

We are thankful to the Charles Schwab interns who volunteered their time and energy to make this experience meaningful and memorable for our Club kids. Together, we’re helping young people gain the knowledge and skills they need to plan for a strong, successful future.
