Celebrating Women’s History Month at Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area
March is Women’s History Month, a time to honor the incredible contributions of women throughout history and recognize the changemakers shaping our future. At Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area (BGCAA), we are proud to celebrate the strong, resilient, and inspiring women who make a difference in the lives of our youth every day—including our all-women executive leadership team: Chief Operations Officer Alison Hall, Chief Finance Officer Wendi Brockwell, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer Clarissa Davila, Chief Executive Officer Zenae Campbell, Chief Development Officer Sunny Howard, and Chief Programs Officer Dr. LaTasha Carter

At BGCAA, we are especially proud to shine a spotlight on our all-women Executive Leadership Team, whose passion, leadership, and dedication inspire great futures every day. Guided by our values of integrity, innovation, and inclusion, they are creating opportunities, breaking barriers, and empowering the next generation of leaders.
By serving as mentors, role models, and advocates for our youth, our executive leadership team empowers the next generation to dream big, work hard, and believe in their potential. Their commitment ensures that all children, regardless of background, have access to the resources, support, and encouragement they need to thrive.
Inspiring the Next Generation
Women’s History Month is not just about reflecting on the past—it’s about inspiring the future. By showcasing strong female role models, providing mentorship opportunities, and fostering a culture of inclusion and empowerment, we ensure that every young girl at BGCAA knows she can achieve greatness.
At BGCAA, we believe that when we invest in young women, we invest in a brighter future for all.
Club Director Highlight: Lele Carter
With a passion for seeing children thrive both academically and personally, LBJ High Club Director Lele Carter brings a wealth of experience, a heart for community-building, and the invaluable perspective of being a mother. Her dedication will undoubtedly inspire both the young people we serve and our team as a whole.
As a mother and mentor, Lele is deeply committed to strengthening the mentorship programs that are at the core of our organization. She believes every young person should have access to a mentor who can provide guidance—not just in academics and extracurriculars, but also in navigating life’s bigger questions and decisions.

Celebrating Empowerment and Achievement in STEM
STEM Girls Day at University of Texas at Austin
Club members in grades K-8 had an unforgettable experience at UT STEM Girl Day, where they explored the exciting world of science, technology, engineering, and math through hands-on activities, play, and experimentation. Throughout the day, they engaged in interactive workshops and demonstrations led by inspiring scientists, engineers, astronomers, mathematicians, and other STEM professionals from student organizations, research centers, corporate partners, and community groups.
From building circuits and launching rockets to coding challenges and robotics, our members had the chance to apply their creativity, problem-solving skills, and teamwork in a dynamic learning environment. Events like these not only make learning fun but also reinforce the academic skills we prioritize through BGCAA’s Academic Success programs, helping students build confidence in STEM subjects.

By immersing our youth in real-world STEM applications, we are preparing them for the future workforce. Through our Workforce Readiness initiatives, we strive to equip young people with the knowledge, skills, and mentorship they need to explore career pathways in STEM and beyond. Experiences like STEM Girl Day inspire the next generation of innovators, ensuring our youth see the endless possibilities ahead.
