Mario Zambrano Named Board Member of the Year

We are proud to share that the North Texas Council has recognized Mario Zambrano, Board Chair of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area (BGCAA), as the Board Member of the Year. This distinguished honor, announced during the Texas Council Meeting at the Texas Summit, celebrates Mario’s outstanding leadership and steadfast dedication to youth development.

Since joining BGCAA’s Board of Directors in 2017, Mario has played a pivotal role in advancing the organization’s mission to help all kids build Great Futures. His commitment was further demonstrated during his tenure as Interim Chief Executive Officer from April to December 2023, where he provided critical leadership and support.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Mario on this well-earned recognition and look forward to his continued impact in shaping brighter futures for Texas youth.

Bringing Texas Clubs Together: A Memorable Evening in Austin

As the host organization, BGCAA warmly welcomed Texas leaders and supporters to an inaugural reception during the Texas Summit, setting the stage for an unforgettable evening of connection and celebration.

In true Austin style, we brought together Club leaders, supporters, and special guests—including Commissioner Jeff Travillion—to foster meaningful conversations and inspire collective action for Texas youth.

A special thanks to Latham & Watkins for providing the perfect venue for this gathering. We are especially grateful to Les Dames d’Escoffier International – Austin Chapter, a distinguished network of women leaders in food, beverage, and hospitality, for curating an extraordinary dining experience. Their generosity and commitment to excellence shined through every dish and drink, making the evening truly special.

This celebration was even more significant as it took place during Women’s History Month, a time to honor trailblazing women. Les Dames d’Escoffier exemplifies the power of women’s leadership in strengthening communities, and we are proud to recognize their impact.

As Boys & Girls Clubs across the state continue their work, the connections and momentum built during this Summit will drive lasting impact in the lives of the young people we serve.
