July 17, BGCAA interns from Ladders for Leaders, Classroom Readiness, and Youth of the Years visited the state capitol for a first-hand experience in leadership and civic engagement. At the Texas State Capitol, they met with Texas State Representative Senfronia Thompson and gained a behind-the-scenes look at public service. From the House Chamber, they engaged in conversations about leadership, government, and how they can make a difference in their own communities.

The group then toured the House of Representatives, where staff from the Office of the Speaker of the House and the Sergeant-at-Arms shared an inside look at their roles, the daily operations of the Capitol, and internship opportunities available to young people interested in public service.
The experience continued at Foley & Lardner LLP, where teens explored careers in law, connected with attorneys, and learned firsthand about the education, skills, and real-world experiences that shape the legal profession.
