At Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area (BGCAA), strong leadership drives meaningful opportunities for the youth we serve. We are thrilled to welcome three new members to our Board of Directors, each bringing unique expertise and a shared commitment to supporting Austin’s young people.
Meet Zack Britton
MLB Veteran
“I am thrilled to join the Boys & Girls Club of the Austin Area. I look forward to contributing to the mission of enhancing the lives of all children in our community.”
Zack spent 12 seasons as a Major League Baseball pitcher with the Baltimore Orioles and the New York Yankees, earning recognition as a record-breaking closer, 2x All-Star, American League Saves Leader, and recipient of the Mariano Rivera Reliever of the Year Award. During his time with the Yankees, he was honored with the “Good Guy Award” by the New York press and elected by his peers to serve on the Major League Baseball Players Association Executive Subcommittee, where he helped represent players in collective bargaining and pension matters.
Beyond the field, Zack has long been committed to giving back, partnering with organizations nationwide and spending meaningful time mentoring and encouraging young people through clinics, school visits, and community events. After retiring from MLB, he moved to Austin, where he continues to invest in new ventures and stay connected to the community.
Above all, Zack is a devoted family man who enjoys spending time with his wife, Courtney, and their four children while supporting the next generation of kids who dare to dream big.
Meet Ryan Brueckner
Exodus Intelligence
“The Boys & Girls Club was an instrumental part of my upbringing. It supported the development of my confidence and introduced me to a family away from home. I am beyond excited to give back to this incredible organization and to assist, in any way possible, the children of the Austin community to reach their full potential.”
Ryan Brueckner is the Chief Operating Officer of Exodus Intelligence, a global cybersecurity company that partners with government and enterprise organizations to understand, prepare for, and defend against evolving cyber threats. Prior to his current role, Ryan held senior leadership positions at Deloitte Consulting within the Mergers and Acquisitions practice, where he focused on Technology, Media, and Telecommunications. He also led Deloitte’s MBA campus recruiting efforts at the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. Ryan lives in Austin with his wife and two children, where they enjoy the outdoors and all the city has to offer. A proud alum of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Scottsdale, his connection to youth development is deeply personal, and he is excited to give back through the Club in Austin—now home to his family.
Meet Michael Guajardo
Guajardo Injury Law
“I grew up in Lubbock, Texas, and I was a Club kid for many years. The Club gave me a chance to grow, learn, and thrive, and those early experiences were important in shaping who I am and instilled qualities that have guided me through life. I’m a little older now, but it’s nice to feel like a kid who’s back at the Club again, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to support this mission moving forward.”
Michael Guajardo is the founder and owner of Guajardo Injury Law, a personal injury trial firm based in Austin, Texas, with more than 33 years of experience advocating for individuals and families across the state. A proud Lubbock Club alum, Michael has remained deeply connected to the Club community, giving back as a basketball coach and referee.
He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and a Juris Doctor from Texas Tech University and began his legal career as a defense attorney before dedicating his practice to representing individuals.
Michael has held leadership roles in the Texas Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice and has received numerous honors, including recognition as a Super Lawyer since 2009, and inclusion in Best Lawyers in America and Best Lawyers in Austin. He is also a distinguished member of the American Board of Trial Advocates.
Michael lives in Austin with his wife, Tiffany, and enjoys golf, travel, and riding e-bikes together.
Each of these leaders brings dedication, professional expertise, and a passion for community to BGCAA. Their involvement will help ensure that every young person who walks through our Club doors has the opportunity to thrive and achieve their full potential.
