Senior Night at Whataburger

Aug 14, 2017

Though we’re almost at the start of a new academic year, we’re still thinking about the memories we made at our Senior Night at Whataburger. Not only was the event full of fun and food, it was a time to celebrate and congratulate our graduating seniors.

According to Lani Lappinga, Director of Program Services, the event was a first for Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area. “[It was] the first year we’ve been able to invite graduating seniors from Clubs throughout the city to a single recognition event to celebrate their successes in high school and the contributions they’ve made to the Club over the years.” Lappinga continued to say that, with the support of Whataburger, Club members and staff enjoyed a great meal.

The event didn’t just invite Club members to share a meal together, but instead, served as an induction ceremony for our Club members. Lappinga said every graduating Club member was officially inducted into the BGC Alumni & Friends Club, which is made up of former Club members and supporters who aspire to stay connected, network, and give back to Clubs and kids who need it most, and a gift card from the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area.
