On September 16, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area (BGCAA) gathered with Round Rock ISD at Bluebonnet Elementary BGC to celebrate the exciting milestone of the opening of 10 new Boys & Girls Clubs across Round Rock ISD, marking a major expansion of opportunities for more than 1,000 elementary students and families across the community.
Schools and community organizations each bring unique strengths to supporting young people, and the partnership with Round Rock ISD has helped create new opportunities for students and families throughout the district.
The event also brought together special guests and community leaders, including representatives from the offices of Texas State Representatives Caroline Harris Davila and John Bucy, whose presence underscored the broader community support for investing in young people and creating opportunities for families across the region.
For BGCAA CEO Zenae Campbell, the expansion is a meaningful example of the organization’s mission in action.
“When we talk about the mission of Boys & Girls Clubs, we talk about inspiring and enabling all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential.”
The new Clubs provide more young people with access to caring adults and high-quality out-of-school time programming. Club members have opportunities to receive homework support, explore new interests, develop leadership skills, build friendships and discover new strengths.
For families, the expansion means more access to trusted spaces where young people can continue learning and growing after the school day ends. And for the Round Rock community, it represents an investment in the next generation.
“A lot of hardworking parents sometimes work long hours and know their kids are not only safe with us, but also engaged in fun, enriching activities.”
Five Club Ambassadors joined the celebration and shared what they enjoy most about being part of their Clubs. From favorite activities and trying new things to building friendships and discovering interests, the Club Ambassadors reminded everyone in the room why expanding access matters.
As BGCAA looks toward its 60th anniversary in 2027, the organization is continuing to expand opportunities for young people and families across Central Texas. The partnership with Round Rock ISD is an important part of that growth — creating more places where young people can find support, discover their strengths and build the skills they need for the future.
