Jamaal Charles & Friends Return for an Unforgettable GameDay

Jul 1, 2025 | Community Involvement, For the Kids, In The News

On June 25, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area (BGCAA) welcomed back NFL legend and BGCAA Board Member Jamaal Charles for the 3rd Annual Jamaal & Friends GameDay—a high-energy celebration of sportsmanship, teamwork, and youth empowerment held at our Home Club on the Sheth Family Campus.

Nearly 180 Club youth from across our summer camp sites came together for a day packed with football drills, leadership lessons, and unforgettable memories. Jamaal brought unmatched energy to the field—leading agility stations, coaching one-on-one, and guiding youth through a spirited flag football tournament. His encouragement made every child feel like an MVP.

I’m throwing a football camp for the kids showing them agility drills and talking to them to inspire them. I’m here today to give back my love and support to the Club and the community. shared Jamaal during the event.

Supporting this incredible day were Navarro High School Boys & Girls Club members and dedicated volunteers from Bank of America, who helped facilitate drills and kept the event running smoothly. Between plays, Jamaal took time to speak with Club members about perseverance, confidence, and believing in yourself—reinforcing why Football needs Club kids and how young leaders can carry those values far beyond the field.

“Events like Jamaal & Friends Gameday show our youth that they are seen, supported, and capable of greatness—on the field and beyond. Football needs Club kids because their resilience, leadership, and potential are exactly what the future of the game—and our communities—depend on.”
