Annual gala will bring champions for youth development together to support life-changing programs and opportunities for thousands locally

AUSTIN, TEXAS (October 3, 2018) — In celebration of more than 7,500 local Club youth and the mission of building great futures for thousands more Austin-area youth who need us most, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area (BGCAA) will host the Art of Giving Gala Friday, Nov. 2, at the JW Marriott Austin. The annual event honors the profound impact of Boys & Girls Club programs. The gala, which will be presented by American Constructors, recognizes members and staff along with donors and community advocates who help provide kids and teens with a path to success through their unyielding support.

An engaging and artfully designed evening, the Art of Giving Gala will kick off at 6:30 p.m. with a cocktail hour, presented by Target Corp and silent auction. A Club youth art gallery and live art display will set the stage for the events, among other delights. The evening’s program will take place starting at 7:30 p.m. led by master of ceremonies Jim Spencer, Emmy award-winning weathercaster now in his 27th year with KXAN. Guests will enjoy gourmet dinner and desert, along with a live auction. Afterward, festivities will continue with the Art of Giving Gala After Party, featuring an open bar, snacks, live music and more.

“In addition to raising funds to further our mission, our annual gala also celebrates the generous companies and individuals whose support helps provide opportunities for all kids in the Austin area,” said CEO Misti Potter. “This year’s gala is especially exciting because we are just steps away from a long-awaited dream with the opening of our Home Club on the Sheth Family Campus—construction is well underway but we still need the community’s support to open the doors for our kids.”

Beyond being cause for celebration at the Art of Giving Gala, the upcoming opening of the Home Club marks a turning point for BGCAA locally. A 32,000-square-foot custom designed facility on a 10-acre campus including sport fields and BGCAA administrative offices, the Home Club represents opportunity for more than 1,000 kids who will be able to attend annually. It is a critical component in reaching the young people who need Boys & Girls Clubs most, more often, and with greater impact. This includes youth from all walks of life who stand to benefit from developmental programming after school and during other out-of-school times.

Gala sponsorship opportunities are available, starting at $3,500.Tickets for the Art of Giving Gala, which is black tie optional, are available for purchase online. Individual tickets are $350 and include access to the after-party, while tickets to the after-party only are $100.

For those who cannot attend the Gala but wish to support BGCAA and the incredible youth they serve across the Austin area, there are many ways to get involved. Donations can also be made online at www.bgcaustin.org/donate. All monies raised will help further BGCAA’s academic, healthy living and character-building, out-of-school-time programming for kids who need it most, helping them to become caring, responsible and productive citizens of our community.
