Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area is thrilled to announce the appointment of Mario Zambrano to the position of Chair of the Board of Directors!
Mario first joined BGCAA Austin’s Board of Directors in 2017, and he also served as BGCAA’s Interim Chief Executive Officer from April to December of 2023.
Over the past seven years, Mario has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the BGCAA mission to help all kids build Great Futures by providing access to programs focused on 5 key areas: character and leadership, academic success, healthy lifestyles and workforce development.
“I am honored to be stepping into the role of chair of the board and acknowledge that I am also standing on top of high shoulders that precede me,” said Mario. “I had the opportunity to serve as Interim CEO last year where I gained an even deeper respect, perspective and admiration for the work our staff does every single day to change the lives of youth in the greater Austin Area. I look forward to continue to empower their efforts and the 8,000-plus kids we serve every year and into the future”
When Mario is not busy championing youth development for BGCAA, he can be found serving as the CEO of a family of businesses, like CMIT Solutions of Austin, a provider of Complete Managed IT Services for small and medium businesses; Sunuts LLC, a company distributing pecan-based snacks to major chains in Mexico and the U.S.; and at Zutixe, providing consulting services for international businesses in the Energy and Aerospace industries.
In addition to his board role at BGCAA, Mario is a board member at The University of Texas at Austin, International Board of Advisors and at the Cardigan Mountain School, an all-boys boarding middle school in Cannan, NH. By design, his efforts have focused around education. He is also on the board at Zemog, a trucking company in Mexico, and Pecari, a real estate developer in Monterrey, Mexico.
Mario and his wife Maria have two children, and in his spare time Mario is a passionate pilot and cyclist.
