Youth of the Year 2018
The Youth of the Year program recognizes teens for outstanding contributions to a member’s family, school, community and Boys & Girls Clubs, as well as personal challenges and obstacles overcome. Youth of the Year (high school) and Junior Youth of the Year (middle school) serve as both an exemplary ambassadors for Boys & Girls Club youth,as a strong voice for all of Austin’s young people.

Olivia C., 2018 Youth of the Year
Olivia C. is a senior at LBJ Early College High School, she is continuing her education at Texas Southern University with a study in Behavioral Analyst. Olivia has been a part of the Club for over two years. Olivia is a such an inquisitive and creative individual which makes her stand out from the rest of her peers. Her favorite personal quote is: “Quod abserdum est fit genius… The absurd is often genius”.
Naya D., 2018 Junior Youth of the Year
Fernanda T., Youth of the Year Nominee
Fernanda T. is a senior at East Austin College Prep, she is continuing her education at Texas State University with a study in Anthropology. She has been a part of the Club for over two years. Fernanda is a responsible and caring young woman. “I’m not perfect, but I am me!”, she stated.
Ulysses G., Youth of the Year Nominee
Ulysses G. is a junior at Travis High School and would like to continue to his education at the University of Texas at Austin with a study in Engineer. Ulysses has been a part of the Club for over two years. He is a quiet and kind person to be around. His personal quoate is, “seeing, hearing and believing”.
Venecia C. , Youth of the Year Nominee
Venecia is a sophomore at Lanier High School and has been a part of the Club for two years. She wants to continue her education in Veterinary Sciences. She is different and understanding to others at the same time. Her personal quote: “Be Good to people even though they may not be good to you”.
Davion P. , Youth of the Year Nominee
Davion is a sophomore at Travis High School who has been a part of the Club for over three years. He wants to continue his education in Law Enforcement. He is a caring an honest young man. “To me, the Club is a second home; it’s a place to go where I feel valued and respected”, he said.
