Honoring Black History Month: Celebrating Leadership, Legacy & Great Futures

Feb 28, 2025 | Celebrations & Awards

This Black History Month, we honor the strength, leadership, and lasting impact of Black changemakers who have shaped history and continue to inspire future generations. At Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area (BGCAA), we are proud to recognize the contributions of Black leaders—both past and present—whose dedication to empowering youth is paving the way for Great Futures

From our passionate Club staff to the young minds we serve, the spirit of resilience, creativity, and leadership shines brightly across our Clubs. This month, we celebrate the voices, stories, and achievements of our community, reminding us all that every Great Future starts with opportunity!

Home Club members used writing and art to express what Black History Month means to them. Their powerful reflections are now on display, celebrating their creativity and honoring the legacy of Black history.

Our CEO, Zenae Campbell, is deeply committed to empowering youth and leading strategic growth at BGCAA.

A dedicated mother and passionate advocate, she is a driving force for change, shaping a future where every child has the support and opportunities they need to thrive.

With a bold vision, she is positioning BGCAA as the nation’s leading Boys & Girls Club for youth impact—transforming lives and strengthening communities.

Members from the LBJ High School Boys & Girls Club recently came together for a vibrant hangout event in honor of Black History Month.

The celebration featured music, games, interactive activities, and delicious food, creating a space for members to connect, reflect, and enjoy time with their peers.

This event not only fostered friendship and community but also provided an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the rich history, culture, and contributions of Black leaders.
