An Amped Up Experience at
iHeartMedia Studios
Bringing inspiring experiences to local youth is part of what makes Boys & Girls Clubs unique. Thanks in part to our dedicated and involved supporters and advocates, Club youth in the Austin area sometimes get a rare behind-the-scenes chance to see or experience a field of business, future career opportunity, or dabble in an area of personal interest.
This was the case on Friday, July 13 when fifteen Club kids from Garcia and Walnut creek Clubs were treated to a broadcast radio studio tour at Austin iHeartMedia studios, courtesy of BGCAA board of directors member, Matt Martin, President of Operations at iHeartMedia.
Club kids met with famous radio personalities including Frankie V, a host at 102.3 THE BEAT, who showed them around the studio and gave them the inside scoop on the industry.
Apart from the tour, Club kids enjoyed getting to try out some of the controls in the studio and ultimately learned how a DJ booth works. They were able to see the performing stage within the studio, where celebrities have performed, and bore witness to a wall signed by countless famous individuals like Justin Bieber during their visits to the iHeartMedia studios.
Bumping into sports DJ from AM 1300 THE ZONE, a self-expressed Club alumni from Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Texas, was an exciting surprise for everyone. What a great way for our Club youth to see firsthand how their vision for a great future can be possible.
As our kids grow up, it is important to expose them to diverse professions that will allow them to develop an interest to pursue in the long term. From coding events to music opportunities, youth receive experiences that will benefit them in their journey to great futures.
This event wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t for the valuable contributions from our board members, volunteers and community partners who help open the door to opportunities like this for our Club youth. A HEARTFELT THANK YOU!
