Oracle Provides Grant to Support STEM Programming for Youth

Mar 27, 2024 | Club Updates, Community Involvement

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area (BGCAA) announced that Oracle Giving recently awarded a $45,000 grant to support the delivery of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) programming at 27 Club sites throughout the Austin area.

The goal of these programs is to develop students’ skillsets in computer science, provide digital literacy enrichment, and prepare youth for future careers in technology and engineering.

“Oracle is proud to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Austin in their work to advance education and help students develop technology skills,” said Colleen Cassity, Vice President of Oracle Social Impact and Executive Director of Oracle Education Foundation. “Together, we’re equipping students with the skills they need to design, build, and code a bright future.”

The mission of BGCAA is to help all youth build great futures by providing access to programs that address academic success, character, leadership, workforce development, healthy living, and more. Over the past two decades, BGCAA has placed a greater emphasis on delivering STEM programming to the 8,600 youth who come through Club doors annually.

“Our children are our future, and we know without a doubt that the future of our world will be shaped by the fast-growing and ever-evolving technology industry,” said Zenae Campbell, CEO of BGCAA. “In fact, STEM jobs are projected to grow four times faster than jobs in other fields, even though only 20 percent of our high school graduates are currently prepared to take jobs in these fields. This figure is even lower among Black and Hispanic youth. At BGCAA, we are committed to improving these statistics by preparing all of our young people to become leaders in STEM. We thank our friends at Oracle for joining our efforts through this very generous contribution.”

Thank you Oracle for your generous support of our youth!
