Dell Technologies Match Play Supports Kids Who Need it Most

Sep 27, 2017

Fore….the kids! 64 top-ranked professional golfers from around the world converged on Austin earlier this year for Dell Technologies’ annual Match Play, a joint effort by Dell Technologies and the PGA Tour to help support local charities working to benefit health and wellness, and academic achievement for Austin’s youth. Since moving to Austin, Dell’s hometown, the tournament has generated more than $2 million in charitable proceeds benefiting Austin Parks Foundation, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area (BGCAA), The First Tee, Helping Hand Home for Children, and Keep Austin Beautiful. This year’s Charity Check Presentation took place at Colony Park on Tuesday, September 26.

To inspire kids and encourage them to follow their dreams (no matter how big), BGCAA partnered with Dell Technologies and the PGA Tour in March to bring club members to the tournament. Research shows that outdoor play is essential for the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional well-being of youth. Kids who are active are healthier and do better in school, and BGCAA kids are no exception. Club members were inspired by the pro golfers at the tournament with many of them leaving more driven than ever to make a positive difference within themselves, and their communities. Dell and the PGA Tour were thrilled to partner with the BGCAA, which will use donations from the event to provide quality out-of-school time programming for kids throughout Austin.

The BGCAA has clubs in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods and these funds help students like those at LBJ, Sadler, Garcia, and Barbara Jordan ensure that their Clubs stay open and that they are able to offer comprehensive programs that boost academic success, promote healthy lifestyles, and build good character and leadership skills.

Dell has partnered with the Boys & Girls Clubs for more than a decade and is thrilled to work with organizations that believe leading a healthy lifestyle is important. Whether you were a fan, spectator, sponsor, or volunteer at Dell Technologies Match Play, your contribution helped inspire thousands of kids in the community. We thank everyone who helped support a good cause at the event, and we can’t wait to see you next year!
