Rising Star Professional Leadership Recognitions

Dec 10, 2018 | Past Stories

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area (BGCAA) employees are some of the most dedicated and hardworking employees out there, so it comes as no surprise that a number of BGCAA professional staff members received Rising Star Professional Leadership Certificates on Friday, December 7. This achievement comes after these hardworking staff members took part in two half-day professional development workshops where they learned ways to improve their skills and capabilities supporting career objectives.

At the workshop, hosted by Executive Coach and professional development expert Stefan Werdegar, participants learned how to enhance essential workplace skills, including corporate communications, understanding personal learning styles, and perfecting leadership techniques. Staff members honed these techniques through individual writing assignments, as well as work in pairs on role-play situations. The workshops are truly an invaluable development instrument for our professional staff.

Being selected to take part in The Rising Star Professional Leadership Program was an honor representative of the investment each of these individuals makes in the success of this organization. Participants were selected based on performance and observation from an executive leadership team member. For taking part in the workshops and making the commitment to ongoing professional development, workshop attendees were recognized with a certificate of achievement by CEO Misti Potter. They will also have the opportunity to participate in future professional development workshops as they occur throughout the year and will receive special gift cards for their efforts.

The leadership at BGCAA are always looking for ways to support the building of skills and techniques that enhance the career trajectory of the staff, such that they may continue to inspire great futures for our incredible Club kids.
